Powertrain
The Audi Q2, built on the Audi A1 platform, is expected to inherit the A1's powertrain lineup,
meaning a 1.4L TSI engine and a 1.6L LTDI diesel engine will be standard. Despite the addition
of black fenders, the Q2's off-road capabilities are very limited. Upon its launch, the Q2 will
primarily be front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive only available on the top-of-the-line model.
Design
The new car will be built on the MQB (Modular Transverse Engine) platform, the same platform
used by the Audi A1 and the new A3. It will be available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive
versions with an electronic rear differential lock.
Chassis
The Q2 will be built on the A3 platform, corresponding to Volkswagen's latest modular MQB
platform, which focuses on lightweight design and fuel efficiency. Both two-wheel drive and
four-wheel drive versions will be available. The main gasoline engine will be the 1.4TSI, available
in 125 and 185 horsepower versions. The diesel engine will be a 2.0-liter diesel engine, available
in 115 and 177 horsepower versions.
